Eco Friendly Clothing

On this page you will find tips on eco friendly clothing and how you can go "green" without sacrificing comfort and style.

What Is Eco Friendly Clothing?

Environmentally friendly clothing includes garments that have been made from fibers in their most natural state. Once chemicals are added, whether that happens during the fiber growing process or later during the manufacturing process, the garment becomes less eco friendly.

Examples of natural fibres are:

  • Organic cotton
  • Bamboo
  • Soy
  • Linen
  • Merino wool

Why Should You Consider Buying
Eco Friendly Clothing?

You should consider buying clothing made from natural fibers because it can make a difference to your kids and to our planet.

However, this does not necessarily mean that you have to stock your children's wardrobes with only organic cotton garments. Most of us buy a number of different garments. Some that are "green" - and therefore good for the environment - and some that are not.

It is about making a difference - in your own small way.

Like dressing your little one in garments made from renewable, sustainable and bio-degradable fibres such as merino wool, as often as possible.

But do not worry, if you do not own clothing made from eco friendly fibers, you can still be "green" when it comes to your child's clothing. Just apply the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle!

Reduce the number of garments that you buy for your children. Buy quality instead of quantity.

Reuse your children's quality garments by either passing them down to a younger sibling or by giving them to friends' children or to charity.

Recycle old garments by using them for rags when cleaning and so on.

Without Sacrificing Comfort and Style

Nanok Kids Merino
Natural - Renewable - Biodegradable

At Nanok Kids we design high quality, funky and comfortable clothing for children, made from natural, renewable and silky soft 100% NZ merino wool.

All our merino wool tops and merino base layers are made from merino fibres, that are grown on farms, which are free from pesticides or chemicals.

Dye processes are formaldehyde free and do not use solvents. All finishing processes are mechanical and no chemicals are added.

For screen-printing of our images, we use a water based, 100% solvent free textile ink. Most importantly, our ink is safe - it passes Okotex class 1.
